Kicking Off Christmas

I've been so busy throughout the Holidays I have been neglecting my blogging so I have a lot of catching up to do.
It all started with Erin & Nick's arrival in Asheville on the 21st. It ALMOST didn't happen for Erin. Nick was coming from Toronto and Erin from Chicago. They were scheduled to be on the same connecting flight from Detroit. Erin's flight from O'Hare was delayed and she was not going to make the connection. They gave her the option of going home and getting on a flight the next day or taking the flight to Detroit and getting on the connecting flight the next day. She called and asked what she should do so Robert advised her to get on the plane and take the chance that the connecting flight was delayed as well or at the least she'd be part-way here. She called John & Lou and lined up a place to stay for the night just in case and got on the plane. In the meantime, we were tracking her flights on the computer and the connection from Detroit to Asheville was delayed until 10:17PM so she would be able to make the flight afterall! We left a message on her cellphone but she already knew it so she ran to the gate. When she got to the gate at about 9:30 she called me to say nobody was at the gate but the flight was still scheduled to leave at 10:17. All of a sudden she told me she'd call me back and hung up. A few minutes later she called back and said she was on the plane. The reason no one was at the gate was because they were on the plane ready to take off. Nick had wandered off from the gate thinking he had a lot of time before takeoff and ended up being the last one on the plane. He almost ended up being the one to stay with John & Lou. Their plane ended up only being about 25 minutes behind schedule so they got in around 11:30PM. Whew!

The next day we went to Creston to show Nick the house and Black Mountain.
