Rainy Day (Finally!)

Today it's raining and foggy. Everytime I look outside it's different. Sometimes I can't see anything because of the fog. I hope the blind lady can find her way here. (She's coming to install window treatments in the bathrooms.)

Wednesday's Sunrise

The woods were glowing.

Tuesday's Walk

Tuesday was a bit overcast which made the remaining fall colors look different than in the bright sun. The big mountains to the north looked very blue and made the golds & rusts of the trees look brighter. It doesn't show up as well in the pictures.

Harvey

What mountain cats do all day.

Same thing as city cats.

Color My World

Just some shots of the fall color from the deck before it's gone.

Early Morning

Yesterday I had to move my car out of the driveway before the landscapers arrived. So, at about 7 am I moved it down to the bottom of the road. I saw this cloud hovering on top of the larger mountain range to the north so I ran back up to the house for my camera and luckily, the cloud was still there when I got back. I took a picture of the house for a "before" picture. I'll take another one when the landscaping is finished.

Another Day - Another Sunrise

What It's All About

THIS is the reason Robert selected this lot. So he could sit in his Secret View with a beverage. We finally christened it the other afternoon just before sunset.

Our First Deer

We saw our first deer outside the house this morning. Harvey spotted it first (good boy!)
If you can find the deer in this picture, good for you. Robert took the picture and I can't find it and I was there. The deer have already turned dark for the winter.
I went for a walk after breakfast and as I was coming back up around the corner of our road I heard a screaming noise and saw some deer run across our road at the foot of our driveway and disappear into the woods. I went up the road very cautiously because I wasn't sure if I was the one who scared the deer or if there was something even scarier than me up there - like a bear. Anyway, they scared the heck outta me!

Our First Fire

Saturday Drive

Saturday we took a drive to Franklin, NC. Franklin is quite a bit west of here almost to the Smoky Mountains. It's in the Nantahala National Forest which is a beautiful area and very popular for white water rafting. We went to a furniture store to buy a bed for our guest room. We went there last August to buy some porch rockers and saw some handmade beds that were very reasonably priced so thought it was worth the drive for the bed. Also, it was a beautiful day for a drive. After buying the bed (Queen-size so our guests will have the utmost comfort) we went for a drive to White Water Falls. They are the highest falls east of the Rockies. The fall colors were at their peak at the higher elevations. Now I suppose we'll have to get a box spring and mattress set, too.

Another Mama for Obama

You can't read the little sticker on my shirt but it says, "I Voted." We have early voting in NC and Saturday was the last day so we voted early late.
(That's not someone's boob in the upper left corner it's Robert's finger.)

Harvey

We're trying to teach Harvey how to use the cat door out to the screened porch. We lock him out on the porch and he knows he can come in through the little door but still can't figure out how to do it by himself so he just sits there looking in the door and crying. Charlie was supposed to teach him how to use it but since he's no longer here I guess it's up to us.

Walkin'

This is my daily walk. The colors here are almost at their peak. It gets prettier every day. It warmed up again after last Tuesday's snow and the weather has been beautiful. This morning (Sunday) we had breakfast out on the screened porch.

Eye Opener

This is what we wake up to.
