Construction Update 10/8/07

The walls have gotten higher, the carport is growing and there is gravel on the lower level floor. We had some trees and brush cleared while we were away and it opened up the view quite a bit. Robert is happy.

The Travelin' Cat Show Rides Again

It's good to be home.

Fall Color

This is the view from our dock.

Last Few Days

We spent the last few days getting the cabin ready for the winter. We managed to find time to enjoy the beautiful weather and went kayaking and boating and took in the fall colors. Thursday, Erin had a horrible bout of diahh, diarr, the runs and had to leave work immediately and drive 7 hours to be with her Mumma. We fed her home-cooked meals, sat around the campfire and by the time we left on Saturday she was well enough to go to the casino with her Grandma.

Lake Michigan

This is the beach we found in Cross Village. Robert let us out to run like dogs and we went wild picking up rocks. We were sorry we didn't have a bucket with us. The rocks were beautiful.

Up North

We got back up to the cabin on Thursday. Saturday Sue & Roger come up from Big Rapids. We had a lobster fest. Delicious. We also built our first campfire of the season. Sunday we went to Talley's to watch the Lions' game. I believe they actually won.
Wednesday was Mom's birthday (I won't say which birthday) and we took a ride over to Cross Village on Lake Michigan to have lunch at Leg's Inn. It's a fun & quirky restaurant overlooking the lake that serves Polish food. After lunch we went to a beach then stopped in to see a friend who wasn't home then drove through the "Tunnel of Trees."

Detroit/Lewiston/Detroit

We drove up to Michigan and we were gone about 2 weeks. On our way up to the cabin we drove through Detroit and made a tamale stop. Then we stopped in Royal Oak to load up on some of our favorite things at Holiday Market. We drove past the Hendrie House. It still looks the same. We went on up to Lewiston and John was there. Dan came with Tommy & Jimmy. The 3 guys went golfing on Sunday then Robert & I went back to Detroit on Monday. We went over to Jan & Stimmel's and saw Jeff & Patti and Scott & Margaret. Tuesday Robert dropped me off at Pam's and we went uptown and had lunch with Sherry & June from the Woman's Club. Then Robert & I had dinner with Monica & Jim at our favorite restaurant, Mon Jin Lau, better known as "The Lounge." We were conveniently staying at the hotel next door. Nancy taught us that trick. Wednesday Robert had a meeting so Carol picked me up from the hotel and we made a day of it in Royal Oak. We went to some of my favorite places then met Cindy for lunch at Pronto where I had the Number 55. When we were leaving we had a slight mishap but luckily Carol has AAA and we were on our way. We went to Holiday so I could load up on food to take back to the cabin then went back to Carol's house on the lake. Robert met us there and we had dinner and spent the night. The next day we had to go back up to the cabin. We had left the cats in the care of their grandmother.
